It depends on your stage of life, but in many cases, location wins over a bit of extra interior space. A good location means easier commute, better schools, safer surroundings, access to daily needs, and often stronger long-term property values. You interact with the location every single day; those minutes and hours add up.
Extra space inside is also wonderful, especially for growing families or people who work from home. But if that space comes with a punishing commute, poor infrastructure or a neighbourhood you actively dislike, the initial joy can fade quickly.
A balanced approach works best. Don’t chase a “perfect” location if the flat is too cramped to live in comfortably. At the same time, don’t double your travel time just to get a slightly bigger living room. Make a list of non-negotiables – safety, commute, school distance, basic size – and see which option fits more of those without stretching you to breaking point.
