How important is parking space when evaluating a home?

Parking may not feel glamorous, but it’s a big practical factor, especially in crowded cities or areas with narrow streets. Having a dedicated, secure parking spot saves daily stress – no hunting for space, no arguments with neighbours, less risk of damage or towing.

If you own a car already, consider how easy it is to enter and exit the parking space, and whether it’s usable in all seasons. If you don’t have a car yet but might in future, parking still affects resale value. Many buyers immediately filter homes by whether there’s at least one decent parking option.

Street parking can work in some neighbourhoods, but it depends heavily on local rules, safety, and how crowded things get at night. So while parking might not be your top emotional priority compared to kitchen or balcony, it’s wise to give it serious thought when comparing properties side by side.
