The easiest method is to use saucers or trays under every pot. They catch excess water and soil that might otherwise seep onto tiles or wooden floors, leaving rings and stains. Choose trays slightly larger than the pot base so overflow doesn’t escape from the sides. For a cleaner look, you can buy matching sets or place several pots on one long tray.
Another neat trick is to use plant stands or small risers. Lifting pots slightly off the ground allows air to circulate under them and stops constant moisture contact with the floor. If you’re using porous clay pots, this is especially useful because they “sweat” a bit.
Every so often, take the pots outside, rinse the trays, and wipe the floor beneath. A few minutes of care prevents those stubborn marks that are difficult to scrub off later and keeps your balcony or room looking intentional rather than messy.
